Netinho de Paula diagnosed with thyroid cancer

Brazilian singer and presenter Netinho de Paula, 56, has been diagnosed with early-stage papillary thyroid carcinoma. The news was confirmed by his press office following medical examinations that identified a nodule in the thyroid region.

Due to the diagnosis, the former Negritude Júnior vocalist will undergo surgery scheduled for October. He announced during a musical performance in Manaus that he will suspend his professional schedule for approximately 30 days to undergo the procedure and recover. Netinho expressed that he is “very calm” regarding the situation and expects to return to performing by the end of the year.

In addition to his music career, Netinho de Paula is currently a candidate for federal deputy for São Paulo representing the MDB. He has indicated his intention to maintain his political candidacy despite the health challenge.
