Nettuno Municipality Acquires FS Land and Plans Viaduct Demolition

Mayor Nicola Burrini of Nettuno signed the acquisition of the first tranche of land owned by Ferrovie dello Stato (FS) – including its urban systems and railway subsidiaries – as part of a council‑approved urban‑regeneration program for the station area. The deal, negotiated with the support of assessors Luigi Iannone and Cristina De Carolis, will allow the municipality to remove the long‑standing, unsafe viaduct at via Visca in October. FS will fund the demolition and create an at‑grade crossing that will link via Lombardia and via Visca, add roughly 200 parking spaces and a new road usable by all residents. The first parcel is now free of restrictions, and a second acquisition phase will follow after FS completes site cleanup and remediation.
