Neuquén, Argentina's LNG project gains union and municipal support

The Private Oil and Gas Workers Union of Neuquén, Río Negro and La Pampa publicly endorsed a proposed LNG law, calling the legislation a strategic tool to double output, attract $25 billion of investment and create jobs in the Vaca Muerta basin. Union secretary‑general Marcelo Rucci said the vote is “now or never” and warned that exploiting gas now is essential amid the global shift to clean energy.

The city of Plaza Huincul also threw its weight behind the project, preparing a 395‑hectare industrial park and training programs to supply skilled labour for the expected expansion. Mayor Claudio Larraza highlighted the proximity of nearby Vaca Muerta blocks and described the proposal as a historic growth opportunity that could generate significant export volumes.
