Chile and Argentina advance regional integration and energy cooperation

Authorities from Chile and Argentina are advancing bilateral cooperation to strengthen regional connectivity, energy integration, and commercial logistics. During the 40th Los Lagos Integration Committee meeting in Valdivia, representatives discussed improving border facilitation, infrastructure, and tourism.

Key strategic focuses include the development of a bioceanic corridor and energy integration. Specifically, officials are exploring the use of Biobío ports as an exit for gas from the Vaca Muerta formation. Infrastructure projects are underway to support these goals, including the planned paving of the Pichachén international pass in March and progress on the Hua Hum pass to enhance the connection between the Los Ríos region and Neuquén.

Additionally, public and private actors in the Los Ríos region have signed a joint declaration to promote digital development, aiming to increase competitiveness and technological incorporation across local productive sectors.
