Neuquén province expands housing credit program and launches $500 million Vaca Muerta‑backed bond
The Neuquén provincial government reported that more than 3,000 families have enrolled in the Neuquén Habita non‑bank mortgage credit scheme, with about 1,700 applications now in the final evaluation stage. The program, driven by Governor Rolando Figueroa, aims to finance construction, expansion and renovation of permanent homes across the province.
In a separate financial move, Neuquén returned to international capital markets by arranging a debt issuance in New York for up to US$500 million. The bond is secured directly by royalties from the Vaca Muerta hydro‑carbon basin, allowing the province to seek single‑digit interest rates (7‑8%). Funds are earmarked to allocate 70 % to road, transport and social projects within Neuquén and 30 % to refinance existing debt obligations.
