Neuquén province launches key Vaca Muerta oil and gas block tender
The government of Neuquén province is finalising a major tender for 15 new hydrocarbon blocks in the Vaca Muerta shale formation. The call for bids, considered one of the most significant in recent years, aims to attract both existing operators and new entrants to boost non‑conventional oil and gas production.
Offers are expected to be opened in the coming days, after which the provincial authorities will evaluate proposals and award the parcels. Officials say the tender is part of a strategy to sustain growth in the sector, increase regional employment and reinforce Argentina’s position as a leading energy hub.
The outcome could lead to expanded exploration and development activities, higher output volumes and positive impacts on the local economy.
