Nevşehir Municipality Warns Residents of Phone Scam Impersonating Officials
Nevşehir Municipality issued a public warning after a rise in phone‑based fraud attempts in which callers pretended to be senior municipal officials or deputy mayors. The scammers contacted citizens, demanding money or promising employment, and used the names of real officials to gain trust. The municipality clarified that no city officials request money or make job offers by phone and urged residents to ignore such calls, avoid sharing personal or financial information, and report any suspicious contact to the police or gendarmerie. Authorities emphasized that official communications are only released through the municipality’s verified channels and that prompt reporting helps prevent further victimisation and assists in apprehending the perpetrators.
