New art exhibitions opening in Eisenstadt and Wasserburg
The Kunstverein Eisenstadt is opening a new long-term exhibition space in the former Mayr Gasthaus at Kalvarienbergplatz. The inaugural exhibition, titled ‘Das Gasthaus – Vom Sichtbaren und Unsichtbaren’, features works by Hannah Neckel, Eva Seiler, and Raphaela Riepl. The exhibition explores the history and social functions of the former inn, utilizing existing structures like the tiled stove and original windows to examine perspectives that were previously less visible in such social settings. The exhibition is scheduled to run from September 27 to November 1, 2026.
In Germany, the art association AK 68 has announced its next exhibition, ‘Doppelblick’, located in the former police station in Wasserburg, known as ‘Alte Polizei’. The show features artists Cornelia Hesse and Uli Schmid. Hesse, a former judge who transitioned to a full-time career in art, uses experimental methods and various plastics to explore societal expectations, values, and the pursuit of perfection.
