New breastfeeding spaces opened in Spain and Mexico

New breastfeeding spaces have been established in Almería, Spain, and Hidalgo, Mexico, to support maternal health and workplace wellness.

The Hospital Universitario Torrecárdenas in Almería has opened a dedicated lactation room within the Materno Infantil Princesa Leonor facilities. Developed in collaboration with the association Lactalmeria, the space provides a private and secure environment for both hospital staff and patients. The room is equipped with specialized nursing chairs, a changing table, and a microwave to facilitate breastfeeding and milk expression.

In Hidalgo, Mexico, the Secretaría de Educación Pública de Hidalgo (SEPH) has inaugurated a lactation room at its central offices. This initiative aims to provide a hygienic and dignified space for female employees to breastfeed or extract and store milk during the workday. The project follows a process of certifying healthy work environments and is intended to improve the quality of life and well-being of the institution's staff.
