Oncology clinical trials show survival improvements across multiple cancer types
Recent clinical trial results presented at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress 2026 highlight significant survival advancements for several aggressive cancers.
In the DeLLphi-305 Phase III trial, combining tarlatamab with durvalumab for maintenance therapy in extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC) reduced the risk of death by 58% compared to durvalumab alone. Median overall survival reached 21.1 months versus 12.7 months.
For advanced biliary tract cancer, the Phase III HARMONi-GI1 trial demonstrated that ivonescimab combined with chemotherapy achieved a median overall survival of 14.9 months, compared to 12.1 months with durvalumab and chemotherapy, representing a 25% reduction in the hazard of death.
In recurrent endometrial cancer, the Phase III TroFuse-005 trial showed that sacituzumab tirumotecan (sac-TMT) extended median overall survival to 19.0 months, compared to 12.1 months with conventional chemotherapy, a 32% reduction in relative risk of death.
Additionally, Immatics reported encouraging Phase 1b data for its PRAME-targeted bispecific T-cell engager, IMA402, noting a 91% one-year survival rate in a subgroup of patients with advanced melanoma and high PRAME expression.
