New Chitose Airport to host Studio Ghibli screenings

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the opening of Chitose City Airport, special screenings of Studio Ghibli films will be held at New Chitose Airport.

On September 12, 2026, the film ‘Castle in the Sky’ will be screened at the New Chitose Airport Theater as part of the ‘SKY & AUTUMN DREAM FESTA 2026’. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale in late August 2026.

Additionally, the 13th New Chitose Airport International Animation Festival, held from November 20 to 24, 2026, will feature a special screening of ‘Porco Rosso’. The selection of ‘Porco Rosso’ is intended to honor the era of the 1920s, which marks the origins of the airport's opening.
