New constructors prepare for WRC27 championship debut
New constructors are preparing to enter the World Rally Championship under the upcoming WRC27 technical regulations. Project Rally One, led by engineer Lionel Hansen and involving former FIA rally director Yves Matton, has completed the initial rollout of its vehicle. The team conducted approximately 300 kilometers of testing on a German track and aims to debut at the Monte Carlo Rally in January 2027.
In addition to Project Rally One and Toyota, WRT Rally1 Spain has announced its intentions to compete. Supported by RMC Motorsport and the Spanish federation RFEDA, the Spanish team plans a mid-season debut at the Rally Croatia in April 2027. Unlike other independent entrants who may use existing Rally2 power units, the Spanish project intends to develop its own engine based on a Group A homologated production unit to ensure supply availability.
The WRC27 regulations are designed to lower barriers to entry, allowing new entities to compete alongside established manufacturers like Toyota and Hyundai.
