2027 WRC technical regulation changes

Overview

The FIA has introduced new technical regulations for the 2027 World Rally Championship (WRC) designed to reduce costs and performance levels to achieve parity with the Rally2 class. A central part of this strategy is the Rally2 Kit, featuring upgrades like revised bumpers and larger rear wings. While M-Sport has committed to the kit, interest from major manufacturers such as Hyundai, Škoda, and Lancia remains low, largely due to the financial requirement to enter at least two cars per season event. Toyota is currently the only competitor developing an entirely new car for these regulations.

In response to the new WRC27 technical framework, the RallyOne Project is preparing for a potential debut at the 2027 Monte Carlo Rally. The team is currently constructing its first chassis and plans to conduct approximately 2,000 kilometers of asphalt testing in France by late October. Project leader Lionel Hansen stated the goal is to achieve homologation by January 1, with a final decision on Monte Carlo participation expected on November 1.
