Delhi rainfall disrupts flights and causes widespread waterlogging
Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in the Delhi-NCR region have caused significant disruptions to transportation and daily life. At Indira Gandhi International Airport, adverse weather conditions led to at least nine flight diversions and more than 400 delays. Airlines including IndiGo, Air India, and Akasa Air issued advisories urging passengers to check flight statuses and allow extra travel time.
Extensive waterlogging has been reported across the capital and surrounding areas, including Gurugram, Noida, and Ghaziabad. Major roads, tunnels, and airport entrance areas experienced flooding, resulting in severe traffic congestion and gridlock. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued red and orange alerts, forecasting continued heavy rain and thunderstorms in several states.
In addition to urban flooding, the monsoon has impacted Uttar Pradesh, where floods have affected hundreds of thousands of people across multiple districts. Authorities have deployed flood outposts, boats, and medical teams to assist affected populations.
