Delhi Traffic Police issues advisory for BRICS Summit 2026
Delhi authorities have issued a comprehensive traffic advisory ahead of the BRICS Summit 2026, which is scheduled to be held at Bharat Mandapam from September 11 to 13. To facilitate the movement of heads of state and high-profile delegations, the Delhi Traffic Police have implemented a management plan involving 22 diversion points and regulated movement on more than 35 major roads.
Key affected areas include Sardar Patel Marg, Mathura Road, Janpath, Ashoka Road, and several other central New Delhi routes. Motorcade rehearsals conducted on September 8 have already impacted traffic in several sectors. To minimize public inconvenience, commuters are advised to plan journeys in advance, allow extra travel time, and utilize the Metro, particularly when traveling to the airport.
Specific alternative routes have been suggested for travelers heading to New Delhi, Old Delhi, and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations. Additional CP (Traffic) Dinesh Kumar Gupta stated that security and mobility protocols are being strictly enforced to ensure smooth transit for international dignitaries while guiding the public toward alternative paths.
