New electoral leadership in Ecuador and rising popularity of Dominican politician David Collado

Ecuador's National Electoral Council (CNE) has installed a new director, José Cabrera, after a contested internal vote removed long‑time councilor Diana Atamaint. Cabrera is tasked with overseeing upcoming municipal, provincial and parish elections, ensuring compliance with gender parity, youth inclusion and other statutory requirements.

In the Dominican Republic, former mayor David Collado is reported by Gallup‑Diario Libre to have the highest favorability rating among politicians, at 60.8 %. Recent visibility includes a visit to the U.S. carrier USS Nimitz and the inauguration of several public works projects funded with investments exceeding 160‑260 million pesos each, bolstering his public image ahead of the 2027 presidential election cycle.
