New England Heat and Rain Forecast for Early August

The Climate Prediction Center’s 6‑10‑day outlook calls for a stretch of above‑average temperatures across all six New England states from August 5 to August 9. Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut are all expected to see warmer afternoons with elevated humidity.

At the same time, the region is forecast to receive above‑normal precipitation, bringing scattered showers and occasional thunderstorms. Cities such as Portland, ME and Hartford, CT may experience brief periods of heavy rain that could cause temporary ponding on roads and reduced visibility. The wetter pattern should ease drought concerns but may disrupt outdoor events, especially in the late‑afternoon and evening hours.
