New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill Announces $165 Million County Aid

Governor Mikie Sherrill announced that the state will release $165 million in Fiscal Year 2027 County Aid to fund local road and bridge improvements. The program, administered by the New Jersey Department of Transportation and financed through the New Jersey Transportation Trust Fund, was increased by $15 million after the Trust Fund was renewed for five more years on March 26, 2024.

The aid will be apportioned among all 21 New Jersey counties based on population and road mileage, with each county selecting projects for approval by the NJDOT. Counties must submit eligible projects by December 1 and will receive their allotments by July 31, enabling them to plan and execute infrastructure work without raising local taxes. Commissioner Priya Jain emphasized the goal of keeping the statewide transportation network safe, reliable, and modern.
