New Jersey ranked loudest and least haunted in US studies

New Jersey has appeared at the bottom of two distinct rankings regarding state characteristics. According to an AnswerSocrates study, New Jersey ranked 50th out of 50 states for being haunted, scoring only 13 out of 100. West Virginia took the top spot in that study. Despite the low ranking, the study noted that New Jersey residents show high interest in paranormal topics, specifically regarding the Jersey Devil legend.

In a separate study conducted by Manhattan Mental Health Counseling, New Jersey was identified as the loudest state in the lower 48. The state earned a noise score of 75.27, surpassing Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Researchers attributed the high noise levels to New Jersey's high population density and significant daily commuter traffic, noting that the constant sound of engines and horns can contribute to public health tensions.
