New mayoral candidates announced for Sabadell and Girona ahead of Catalonia's 2027 municipal elections

Gabriel Fernández will lead a coalition formed by Junts, Gent de Sabadell, Identitat Sabadellenca and MESCat Independentistes in the 2027 Sabadell municipal elections. The alliance, presented in the manifesto "Sabadell can be much more", stresses the need to unite forces to build a governing majority. Fernández, a former ERC candidate who left the party in 2025, prioritises strengthening public services, viewing security as a social policy and treating housing as a right.

Marc Villafañe, a 41‑year‑old entrepreneur with a background in the health sector and an Executive MBA, has been presented by Aliança Catalana as its candidate for the Girona mayoralty. The announcement was made at the party’s new headquarters in Girona. Villafañe pledges to apply his professional experience and management skills to address the city’s strengths and challenges and to serve the Girona residents.
