New Mexico man arrested for delivering dismantled Flock cameras to sheriff

Jevon Martinez, 44, was arrested in New Mexico after allegedly dismantling Flock Safety automated license plate readers and attempting to deliver them to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office in a truck.

Martinez posted videos to social media during the incident, claiming he was not stealing or destroying the equipment but was “simply returning them” to the department. He characterized the cameras as “tyranny trees” and stated he was “liberating my people from tyranny.” The incident follows the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office ending its contracts with Flock last month due to privacy concerns.

Sheriff John Allen previously noted concerns regarding the security and control of the large network. Martinez faces charges including interference with communications and larceny, as well as felony counts of larceny and property damage stemming from a separate incident in May involving the vandalism of similar cameras.
