New Orleans Pelicans seek stability for 2026-27 NBA season

The New Orleans Pelicans are entering the 2026-27 NBA season focused on establishing stability and competitiveness within the Western Conference. Following a period of decline and inconsistent performance, the franchise aims to convert individual talent into a sustainable winning project.

Key developments include the appointment of Jamahl Mosley as head coach, following decisions by executive Joe Dumars. The team is looking to rebuild its identity, specifically focusing on defensive efficiency and player development. The roster features Zion Williamson and Trey Murphy III, alongside Dejounte Murray, who is expected to have a full season following previous injury struggles.

To bolster the squad, the Pelicans acquired Bennedict Mathurin while moving on from Jordan Hawkins and Micah Peavy. The team's success will likely depend on maintaining the health of its core players and integrating young talents such as Jeremiah Fears, Derik Queen, and Yves Missi.
