New Patriotic Party candidates outline goals for 2028 elections

Candidates within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have outlined their objectives and accountability measures ahead of upcoming internal leadership contests and the 2028 general elections in Ghana.

Sam Pyne, the former Mayor of Kumasi and long-serving Ashanti Regional Secretary, is seeking the position of First National Vice-Chairman. Pyne intends to focus on strengthening the party’s organizational capacity from the polling station level to the national level. He pledged to rebuild administrative machinery, resource constituency-level positions, and promote internal cohesion to prepare for the 2028 elections.

Meanwhile, former Member of Parliament Eugene Boakye Antwi has declared his intention to run for General Secretary. Antwi stated that he will not seek re-election if he fails to deliver the presidency for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and fails to increase the party’s parliamentary seats to at least 110. He emphasized a commitment to accountability, asserting that his success will be measured by the party’s electoral performance in 2028.
