Ghana's New Patriotic Party completes Savannah regional elections as local disputes flare

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has finished polling‑station and electoral‑area executive elections across Ghana's Savannah Region. Dr. Clifford A. Braimah, a candidate for regional chairman, praised the process and called on members to unite and work toward the party's 2028 general‑election goals. In the Western North Region, constituency executives from the Bibiani‑Anhwiaso‑Bekwai area submitted a petition to the regional chairman demanding the annulment of ongoing Electoral Area Executive Committee elections. They alleged procedural irregularities, illegal re‑vetting of candidates and the disqualification of members who had paid dues. The petition notes that the elections were temporarily suspended and later resumed without a clear written resolution, prompting concerns over the legitimacy of the voting process.
