New Patriotic Party holds regional nominations in Ghana's Upper East and Eastern regions

Law student Jonathan Abugre, known as Contempt, filed his nomination to contest the Upper East Regional Youth Organizer post of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He led a procession through Bolgatanga, submitted his forms at the regional office and pledged to mobilise and empower the party’s youth ahead of the 2028 general elections.

In the Eastern Region, 27 aspirants submitted nominations for the NPP’s regional executive elections slated for 9 August 2026. Candidates include former MP Okyere Agyekum for First Vice Chairman, incumbent Chairman Jeff Konadu Addo seeking re‑election, and several contenders for organiser, secretary and treasurer posts. The nomination process concluded on 17 July and was described as peaceful and well organised, forming part of the party’s nationwide reorganisation ahead of the 2028 polls.
