New PET-CT diagnostic technology implemented in Mexico and Argentina
Medical facilities in Mexico and Argentina have inaugurated advanced PET-CT imaging technology to enhance diagnostic precision, particularly in oncology, neurology, and cardiology.
In Mérida, Mexico, the Clínica de Mérida opened the ‘Dr. Luis Alberto Navarrete Jaimes’ PET SCAN Center. Featuring a 128-slice PET-CT tomograph, the facility represents a private investment of over 90 million pesos. This technology allows for the detection of molecular and cellular changes before they are visible on conventional X-rays or CT scans, aiding in early cancer diagnosis and real-time therapy evaluation. The center aims to prevent patients in the southeast region from needing to travel to central Mexico for specialized diagnostics.
In Buenos Aires, Argentina, the Hospital de Oncología María Curie integrated a modern PET-CT system following an investment of over 1.384 billion pesos to adapt its infrastructure. The equipment combines positron emission tomography for metabolic information with computed tomography for high-resolution anatomical mapping. This addition is expected to reduce waiting times and improve the ability to confirm early diagnoses, stratify pathologies, and monitor patient response to treatment within the public health system.
