New schools open in Sesimbra and Seixal

New educational facilities have opened in the Setúbal district of Portugal. In Sesimbra, the Escola Básica 2,3 Navegador Rodrigues Soromenho officially reopened on September 15 following an expansion project. The new building includes seven classrooms, three art rooms, a multipurpose room, science laboratories, a 150-square-meter library, a sports pavilion, and a multi-disability support unit. The expansion utilized land acquired by the municipality in 2012.

In Seixal, the Escola Básica das Lagoas opened in the parish of Fernão Ferro. This new facility has the capacity to accommodate 275 students, including 200 in the first cycle and 75 in pre-school. The project involved a municipal investment exceeding five million euros, supplemented by over 911,000 euros from the Lisboa 2030 Program. The school features a cafeteria, kitchen, library, and recreational areas. The municipality also noted ongoing renovation and expansion projects at other local schools, including Escola Básica de Arrentela and Escola Básica da Quinta do Conde de Portalegre.
