New South Wales coast sees three deaths in weekend tragedies

A series of fatal incidents across the New South Wales coast has resulted in three deaths and multiple injuries over a single weekend.

At Cabarita Beach, a man believed to be in his 50s died after being pulled from the water. Further north at Saltwater Beach, near Taree, three men in their 20s were rescued from the water, but one could not be revived.

In addition to the drownings, a vehicle towing a horse float overturned on the Bucketts Way near Booral. The crash involved two motorcycles, killing one rider in his 30s and critically injuring a man in his 70s. The driver of the utility vehicle was taken to a police station for breath analysis following a positive roadside test.

Surf Life Saving NSW issued an urgent warning regarding water safety, noting that these incidents have brought the state’s coastal and ocean drowning toll to eight since July 1. The organization emphasized the importance of using patrolled locations as volunteer patrols prepare to return to beaches across the state.
