New sunflower processing plant to be built in Romania

A new sunflower processing plant is being constructed in Szentmihály, Cluj County, Romania. The project is an investment by the Podisul Transilvaniei agricultural cooperative, which comprises 21 producers.

The estimated value of the investment is 45 million euros, with 10 million euros expected to be covered by EU financing. The Hungarian construction company KÉSZ Group is handling the development. Once operational, the facility is expected to be capable of processing 600 tons of sunflower seeds every 24 hours. The plant, which will include silos, warehouses, and tanks, is scheduled to begin production as early as April 2028.
