New Taipei City police arrest thief and shut down illegal gambling club

Police in New Taipei City have arrested a 47-year-old man in Yonghe District for a series of thefts targeting charity donation boxes and wallets at local businesses. The suspect, identified by the surname Su, allegedly committed at least 12 thefts within a single month, resulting in total losses of approximately 92,000 TWD. Authorities tracked his movements through surveillance footage after he targeted donation boxes intended for vulnerable groups.

In a separate enforcement action in Luzhou District, police and municipal authorities shut down an illegal gambling operation operating under the guise of a legitimate leisure chess club. Despite previous raids, the operators attempted to bypass administrative sanctions by changing the registered person in charge. In response, law enforcement coordinated with water and electricity companies to cut off utilities to the premises to prevent the business from resuming illegal activities.
