New Taipei City teacher reports physical assault by student
A junior high school teacher in New Taipei City has reported being physically assaulted by a male student, including being pushed into a wall and punched, resulting in two emergency room visits. The teacher expressed frustration after the Education Bureau requested a “relationship restoration” process with the student, which the teacher described as a secondary injury.
The New Taipei City Education Bureau stated that since November of last year, professional counseling teams have been assisting the school with the student, who has exhibited disruptive behavior including attacking teachers and peers, damaging property, and extortion. The Bureau noted that the student has been removed from regular classes for individualized guidance and that schools are being instructed to prepare crisis management mechanisms for the new school year. The Bureau also pledged to provide psychological support and legal consultation to affected teachers.
