New traffic regulations introduced for electric scooters in Slovakia and Bosnia and Herzegovina

New traffic regulations for small electric vehicles, such as e-scooters and Segways, are being implemented in Slovakia and Bosnia and Herzegovina to improve road safety.

In Slovakia, effective September 1, new rules prohibit the automatic use of sidewalks by small electric vehicles unless specifically permitted by traffic signs. Riders must be at least 15 years old, and vehicles are restricted to a maximum speed of 25 km/h. Additionally, these vehicles must not have seats and must carry a manufacturer's label if required.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, specifically within the Prijedor Police Administration jurisdiction, electric vehicles are categorized into four classes. Vehicles in the second and fourth classes, which can reach speeds of 25 km/h, are subject to bicycle traffic regulations. Operators of these vehicles must be over 14 years old, possess a certificate of knowledge regarding traffic safety regulations or a driver's license, and wear a fastened helmet. Carrying passengers on these vehicles is prohibited, and fines for violations are set at 100 convertible marks.
