Nuevo León implements tourist vehicle pass; Spain funds transport updates

In Nuevo León, Mexico, the Instituto de Control Vehicular has announced the implementation of a mandatory ‘Pase Turístico’ (Tourist Pass) for vehicles with foreign or out-of-state plates. Starting October 19, the pass will be required for vehicles entering the state for tourism or temporary stays. The permit is free, can be processed online, and is valid for 1 to 30 days per year. For stays exceeding this period, owners must apply for a ‘Registro Vehicular de Estancia Prolongada’. Authorities will monitor compliance to enhance road safety and administrative control.

In Spain, the Comunidad de Madrid has allocated over 37.1 million euros to modernize transport fleets. The program has facilitated the renewal of more than 1,300 vehicles, including 197 buses and 87 trucks, through subsidies for purchasing new models and scrapping old ones. Additionally, the Spanish Ministry of Transport and Mobility has approved 9.6 million euros to assist self-employed professional drivers in retiring. This program provides 30,000 euros to 320 drivers who are over 63 years old or have a permanent disability, allowing them to formally cease their professional activities.
