36‑year‑old jet‑ski rider dies after crash on Chalkidiki beach

A 36‑year‑old jet‑ski rider was killed on the beach of Zografou in Sithonia, Chalkidiki. While performing maneuvers the rider lost control, was thrown into the sea and rescued by another jet‑ski operator, but remained unconscious. He was taken by ambulance to the Agios Nikolaos Health Centre, where doctors pronounced him dead.

The incident, reported on 10 July 2026, prompted an immediate response from the local Lifeboat Service and the Coast Guard, which launched a preliminary investigation to determine the cause of the crash. No injuries were reported among other beachgoers.

Authorities are reviewing safety procedures for personal watercraft to prevent similar tragedies.
