New York Film Festival announces Spotlight lineup with world premieres
The 64th New York Film Festival has announced its Spotlight lineup, featuring several world premieres. Among the highlights is Tom McCarthy’s ‘A Statement,’ an ensemble film set in 1980 Florida involving experts discussing the impacts of CO2 emissions. The film stars Paul Rudd, Paul Giamatti, and Tatiana Maslany.
Also premiering is Jonathan Glazer’s documentary ‘Joy of Joys,’ which captures the recording of the War Child Records charity album ‘HELP(2)’ at Abbey Road Studios. The project, described as ‘by children, for children,’ utilized footage from London schoolkids and children in conflict zones such as Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, and Yemen.
Other notable selections in the Spotlight section include Takashi Yamazaki’s ‘Godzilla Minus Zero,’ Werner Herzog’s ‘Bucking Fastard,’ and Cristian Mungiu’s ‘Fjord.’ The festival is scheduled to run from September 25 to October 12.
