New York Giants release linebacker Jihad Ward

The New York Giants have released linebacker Jihad Ward, just three weeks after signing him from the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad. Ward was brought in to address depth issues following injuries to Chauncey Golston and Brian Burns, as well as the team's previous trade of Dexter Lawrence to the Cincinnati Bengals.

During his recent two-game stint with the Giants, Ward recorded one tackle in 41 defensive snaps. His career includes 138 games played and 200 tackles across seven different NFL teams. Ward previously played for the Giants during the 2022 and 2023 seasons, where he recorded 67 tackles and 8.0 sacks.
