Jaxson Dart to miss remainder of NFL season with knee injury

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart will miss the remainder of the NFL regular season due to a significant knee injury. Dart sustained damage to his left medial collateral ligament (MCL), posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), and meniscus during a Week 2 game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Head coach John Harbaugh confirmed that Dart will require surgery to repair the ligaments, with a projected recovery time of approximately six months. The injury occurred during the first offensive possession of the game after Dart was hit by Rams defenders Byron Young and Josaiah Stewart.

Veteran Jameis Winston is expected to take over as the starting quarterback. Offensive coordinator Matt Nagy noted that the team must implement a “lane change” to adapt the offensive scheme to Winston’s specific skill set. While the Giants are evaluating Winston's performance, they are also reportedly exploring veteran options, including potential interest in Mac Jones, Gardner Minshew, or free agent Jimmy Garoppolo to bolster depth.
