New York's Largest Illegal Cannabis Seizure Uncovered in Greece, NY

Two men, Joseph Grant, 31, of Webster, and Jason Grant, 29, of Rochester, were arrested after a months‑long investigation by the Greece Police Department, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, New York State Police and the Office of Cannabis Management (OCM). On July 28 search warrants were executed at two homes and two warehouses in Greece and Rochester, uncovering the largest cannabis bust in OCM history.

Authorities seized more than 615 pounds of cannabis flower, roughly 20,000 pounds of concentrated cannabis products, over $219,000 in cash, a privately manufactured “ghost gun,” six vehicles, and multiple pieces of luxury jewelry. OCM estimates the retail value of the seized cannabis at over $17 million. Both men were charged with four felony counts of first‑degree criminal possession of cannabis; Joseph Grant also faces a felony second‑degree possession of a weapon charge. The operation supplied smoke shops across New York State and was noted for unsanitary storage conditions.

The bust marks the biggest single cannabis seizure for the agency, highlighting the scale of illegal distribution networks in the state.
