In early August 2026, law‑enforcement agencies in New York uncovered the state's largest illegal cannabis seizure. A joint operation by the Greece Police Department, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, New York State Police and the Office of Cannabis Management resulted in the confiscation of more than 615 pounds of cannabis flower, roughly 20,000 pounds of concentrated products, over $219,000 in cash and a ghost gun. The two brothers behind the operation were charged with multiple felony cannabis and weapons counts.

A few days later, police in Athens, Georgia conducted a traffic stop that led to a broader investigation and a search warrant at a local address. The raid yielded 15 firearms—including six equipped with machine‑gun conversion devices—over 11 pounds of marijuana, cash and additional weapons charges for three suspects. Both incidents illustrate coordinated efforts by regional and federal agencies to dismantle networks that combine drug trafficking with illegal firearms possession.

Together, these cases highlight a continued focus in the United States on cracking down on combined drug and gun offenses, demonstrating the scale and multi‑jurisdictional cooperation involved in such operations.
