New Zealand activists demand sanctions on Israel and renewed boycotts

Pro-Palestine activists in New Zealand have renewed calls for a boycott of Israeli products and goods from illegal settlements. During the 153rd week of continuous protests, demonstrators urged the New Zealand government to impose sanctions on Israel regarding the situation in Gaza.

The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) campaign targeted local entities, including the Auckland Council and various investment funds. Activists also demanded that the government end visa-free entry for members of the Israeli military and reserves.

Speakers at the event compared the current movement to the anti-apartheid campaigns in South Africa. They criticized the New Zealand coalition government for what they described as a weak response to the conflict.
