New Zealand launches travel industry discount program and issues insurance guidance

Tourism New Zealand has launched the Explore New Zealand Discount Programme, a travel industry initiative designed to help travel advisors experience the country firsthand. The program offers discounts on over 500 products across 27 regions, including accommodation, airfares, transportation, and various activities such as Māori cultural experiences and scenic rail journeys. These discounts, provided by Qualmark-accredited operators, range from free to 50 percent off and can be used by an advisor and a companion.

For international visitors, including those traveling from India, officials emphasize the importance of travel insurance. Immigration New Zealand recommends that visitors obtain comprehensive medical insurance, as travelers are generally responsible for the costs of healthcare received during their stay. While 80 percent of Visitor Visa applications are processed within 1.5 weeks for 2026, travelers are advised to ensure their insurance covers sudden illness, accidental injury, and emergency medical services.
