New Zealand Silver Ferns claim Constellation Cup in Sydney

The New Zealand Silver Ferns secured the 2026 Constellation Cup with a 52-49 victory over Australia's Diamonds at Sydney's Afterpay Arena. The win allows New Zealand to claim the series with a game to spare, marking the fourth time since 2010 that Australia has lost the trophy on home soil.

Despite an early injury to Australian vice-captain Kate Moloney, who dislocated a finger shortly after the match began, the Diamonds held a lead for much of the contest. Australia led 15-11 after the first quarter and maintained a two-goal advantage heading into the final term. However, New Zealand executed a decisive five-goal burst at the start of the fourth quarter to seize control.

Diamonds coach Stacey Marinkovich noted that the team struggled with pressure and penalties, conceding 23 to New Zealand's nine during the match. While the series is decided, a final game remains scheduled for Wednesday in Melbourne.
