2026 Constellation Cup netball series

Overview

In September 2026, the Australian Diamonds announced a 14-athlete squad for the 2026 Constellation Cup, a four-Test netball series against New Zealand’s Silver Ferns. Led by captain Liz Watson and vice-captain Kate Moloney, the roster featured several players from the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games bronze medal team, including Courtney Bruce, who was set to become the Diamonds’ seventh centurion.

The series commenced in October in New Zealand. In the opening Test at Auckland’s Spark Arena, the Silver Ferns defeated the Diamonds 56-50. New Zealand’s Grace Nweke led the scoring with 40 goals. While the Diamonds won the third quarter 17-10, they could not overcome the early deficit. The match also marked Courtney Bruce’s 100th cap and Sophie Garbin’s 50th cap for Australia.

New Zealand extended their lead to 2-0 in the series following a 62-50 victory in the second Test at Christchurch’s Wolfbrook Arena. Grace Nweke recorded 26 successful goals from 26 attempts in the first half. Despite an Australian comeback in the third quarter that reduced the margin to three goals, the Silver Ferns secured the win with a 17-8 final quarter.

The series moved to Australia, where the Silver Ferns secured the Constellation Cup title with a 52-49 victory over the Diamonds at Sydney’s Afterpay Arena. Despite an early injury to Australian vice-captain Kate Moloney, who dislocated a finger, the Diamonds held a lead for much of the match. However, New Zealand executed a five-goal burst at the start of the fourth quarter to seize control. Diamonds coach Stacey Marinkovich noted the team struggled with pressure and penalties, conceding 23 to New Zealand’s nine. This victory allowed New Zealand to claim the series with one game remaining.
