Poland expands transport infrastructure with new trains, buses, and EV factory plans

Poland is seeing significant developments in its transport and electromobility sectors. In the Małopolska region, the completion of a 341 million PLN investment has introduced six new Impuls 2 electric trains manufactured by NEWAG, supported by the National Recovery Plan (KPO). Additionally, the region has expanded its zero-emission fleet with 20 new buses, including 15 electric models from MAN and Solaris, and five hydrogen-powered Mercedes-Benz eCitaro vehicles.

In the freight sector, Captrain Polska has acquired three third-generation Traxx Universal multi-system locomotives from Alstom. These vehicles, manufactured in Wrocław, are authorized for operation in Poland, Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, and Luxembourg, facilitating more efficient East-West corridor transport.

On a national scale, Electromobility Poland is advancing plans for a new electric vehicle factory in Jaworznie. The project, which involves a joint venture with Foxconn, aims to begin construction in early 2027, with the goal of producing 300,000 electric cars annually starting in 2029.
