Poland transport and infrastructure upgrades – Aug 2026
Overview
The August 2026 rollout of infrastructure upgrades across Poland continues to expand. In Gmina Włoszczowa, road modernizations on municipal streets and a new county road in Kuzki are underway, with investments exceeding 2 million zł. The Wąsosz‑Modzele county road is also being rebuilt for over 3.9 million zł. In Krośnieńskie county, reconstruction of the Jaszczew‑Wojaszówka road is scheduled for completion in October.
Major transit projects are reaching milestones. Warsaw’s underground tram tunnel under Aleje Jerozolimskie has received its final concrete slab, fire-protection coating, and hydrant installations. Additionally, the A2 highway between Warsaw and Łódź is slated for widening in September on the Grodzisk‑Konotopa segment. In Bydgoszcz, the Las Gdański tram loop modernization is expected to finish by year-end, while a new water-pumping station in Pleszew has entered its trial phase.
In the Małopolska region, a 341 million PLN investment has introduced six new Impuls 2 electric trains manufactured by NEWAG. The regional zero-emission fleet has also grown with 20 new buses, including 15 electric models and five hydrogen-powered vehicles. In the freight sector, Captrain Polska has acquired three Alstom Traxx Universal locomotives to improve East-West corridor efficiency. Furthermore, Electromobility Poland is planning a new electric vehicle factory in Jaworznie in partnership with Foxconn, aiming for a 2027 construction start to produce 300,000 cars annually by 2029.
