Newborn health indicators and maternal nutrition initiatives in Vietnam

Newborn health and nutritional management for families are key focuses in recent health guidance. For infants immediately following birth, three critical signs indicate successful adaptation to life outside the womb: a loud, clear cry which signals lung activity; the sucking reflex, which demonstrates the ability to feed; and the passage of meconium, indicating that the intestinal tract is functioning.

To support long-term health, Ajinomoto Vietnam, in collaboration with the Department of Mother and Child Health and the National Institute of Nutrition, has implemented the Mother and Child Nutrition Program. This initiative provides nutritional software featuring over 2,000 dishes designed to meet the specific dietary needs of pregnant women and children aged 7 to 60 months. The program also extends to school meal projects to ensure balanced nutrition for primary school students.
