Newcastle Knights extend coach Justin Holbrook until 2030

The Newcastle Knights have awarded head coach Justin Holbrook a contract extension that keeps him with the club until the end of 2030. The decision follows a significant turnaround for the team, which reached its first NRL Grand Final in 25 years under Holbrook’s leadership.

Knights football director Chris James credited Holbrook with building a positive culture and reconnecting the team with the Hunter community. Holbrook, who joined the club following their 2025 wooden spoon campaign, led the team to a narrow 19-18 loss against the Sydney Roosters in the recent Grand Final. Holbrook expressed excitement about the long-term commitment and the opportunity to continue building with a committed playing group.
