Newcastle United completes record €50m signing of Ivorian winger Bazoumana Toure

Newcastle United announced the completion of a record transfer for TSG Hoffenheim, paying a reported fee of around €50 million (£42‑43 million) for 20‑year‑old Ivorian winger Bazoumana Toure. The deal sets a new club‑record for the German side and is Newcastle’s second summer signing after goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen.

Toure arrived after a breakout Bundesliga season in which he registered five goals and 12 assists for Hoffenheim and featured three times for Ivory Coast at the World Cup. He joined Newcastle on a long‑term contract and is expected to replace departing left‑winger Anthony Gordon.

On his arrival Toure said, “I’m very, very happy to be here. It was my dream since I was young to play in the Premier League for a big team like Newcastle.” Newcastle sporting director Andreas Schicker noted that the move “fits the TSG DNA of allowing talented players to progress to elite clubs”. Manager Eddie Howe called him “a player with a really high ceiling” and added that the club sees “a lot of potential to unlock”.
