Nexon reports record semi-annual revenue driven by MapleStory
Nexon has reported record-breaking financial results for the first half of the year, achieving its highest-ever semi-annual revenue, operating profit, and net profit. The company recorded revenue of 273.3 billion yen (approximately 2.56 trillion KRW) and an operating profit of 89.4 billion yen, representing increases of 17.4% and 12.8% respectively compared to the same period last year.
Growth was primarily driven by the expansion of the ‘MapleStory’ franchise and the success of ‘Arc Raiders’ in Western markets. The MapleStory franchise saw a 63% increase in second-quarter revenue, while ‘Arc Raiders’ contributed roughly 15% to the company’s total quarterly revenue, with cumulative sales exceeding 16.3 million units.
While overseas expansion bolstered growth—with North American and European revenue surging by 245%—some existing intellectual properties faced challenges. The ‘Dungeon & Fighter’ franchise saw a 44% decline in second-quarter revenue, and the ‘FC’ franchise experienced a 17% drop in operating profit due to increased costs related to user acquisition and service maintenance.
