Nexon financial performance and game revenue

Nexon has reported record-breaking financial results for the first half of 2026, achieving its highest-ever semi-annual revenue, operating profit, and net profit. Growth was largely driven by the expansion of the ‘MapleStory’ franchise and the success of the extraction shooter ‘ARC Raiders’ in Western markets.

Specifically, ‘ARC Raiders’ has generated over ¥88 billion (approximately $552.8 million) in lifetime revenue since its launch, with cumulative sales exceeding 16.3 million units. In the second quarter, the title accounted for roughly 15% of Nexon’s total quarterly revenue, earning approximately $115 million and surpassing analyst expectations. While Nexon noted that sales for ‘ARC Raiders’ are beginning to normalize, Embark Studios is preparing ‘Frozen Trail’—described as the game’s largest content update—for release on October 8. This update is expected to introduce a new mountain map, new operations, new ARC threats, and a customizable player space called the ‘Outpost’.

Despite these successes, Nexon faced challenges with certain intellectual properties. The ‘Dungeon & Fighter’ franchise saw a 44% decline in second-quarter revenue, and the ‘FC’ franchise experienced a 17% drop in operating profit due to rising user acquisition and service maintenance costs. While total quarterly revenue reached ¥121.1 billion (about $760.8 million), a 2% year-over-year increase, operating income saw a 17% decline to ¥31.3 billion due to increased expenses related to global live-service games, including user acquisition and cloud service costs.
